Dr. David Kahn has lived in Port Jefferson for nearly 30 years. Dr. Kahn is a graduate of Port Jefferson High School and he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006. While pursuing his studies, Dr. Kahn swam for the Longhorns where he was a Big-12 Conference champion and NCAA All-American in the 200 individual medley. In addition, Dr. Kahn was one of 15 individuals across 12 different NCAA Division I sports to be named to the ESPN the Magazine 2005 Academic All-American 1st Team in the at-large division. Dr. Kahn was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society in 2006. Dr. Kahn graduated from The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2011 before returning home to Port Jefferson to complete a 1-year general practitioner’s residency program at St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center.
Dr. Kahn stayed active in competitive sports while studying dentistry. In 2008, USA Triathlon named Dr. Kahn its male amateur athlete of the year. Dr. Kahn graduated to the professional ranks where he competed on the Ironman® 70.3 professional circuit. He is a 2 time Ironman® 70.3 champion, finishing as high as 13th at the Ironman® 70.3 World Championships. In addition, Dr. Kahn has finished as high as 11th in the world on the Ironman® 70.3 points ranking list. Dr. Kahn continued to race professionally as he transitioned into private practice as an associate in his father’s practice. In 2015 Dr. Kahn retired from professional triathlon and founded LI Sound Dental Solutions.
Dr. David Kahn is a 2nd generation dentist. His father Mark has practiced in Medford and Mount Sinai for nearly 40 years and remains an invaluable influence in his son’s development as a practitioner. Soon, Dr. Kahn’s brother Matthew will complete his education at Stony Brook Dental School and join his brother at LI Sound Dental Solutions.
Dr. David Kahn is a dental association member at the county, state and national level. He is an active member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the North Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kahn is a USA Triathlon Level I certified coach and maintains an active lifestyle. In his spare time, Dr. Kahn looks forward to spending time with his family, playing with his parents’ Airedales and attending live music events. Continuing Education
