What is it?
The removal of a tooth. When a tooth is visible and “out of the gums” it is said to be erupted. When a tooth has not come out of the gums and cannot be seen in the mouth it is said to be impacted.
Why might I need an extraction?
The most common reason for an extraction is that teeth and/or their supporting structures are so damaged and broken down that it is the only available treatment.
Dr. Kahn will perform extractions of erupted teeth under local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia. For more complex cases, such as wisdom tooth impactions, or if you would like to be sedated for treatment, Dr. Kahn will refer you to an oral surgeon.
